Being a 100% Reform Jew(ish: see the Belief-o-Matic), it was interesting what happened last night outside Lord's Cricket Ground.
I was watching the England v. Poland game with Patrick and Katherine, who have a flat overlooking Lords. We ordered a pizza (we didn't dig on swine ...) and waited for way too long for it to arrive.
The apartment block is next to the liberal Jewish synagogue, and all three of us had been eyed suspiciously by the large numbers of police and security guards as we arrived.
All this security was to protect the synagogue during Yom Kippur, especially as their street is just off Edgware Road. (As the Iranian comedian I saw on Sunday observed, the London bombers were stupid - after Mecca, Medina and Islamabad, Edgware Road is the most Muslim place on the planet!)
Anyway, the pizza never arrived. They phoned to tell us that security would not allow a swarthy guy on a moped to deliver a package to our building.

Pretty much like the cops on the NY subways last week keeping an eye out and more for anyone who remotely appeared of a certain ethnicity! Duh!
